the promotion. the business. the move. the trade. the relationship. the idea you haven’t acted on yet.
the risk that
started it all.
calculated risk is dedicated to austin and reece, the middle names of two brothers who grew up watching their dad build something from the ground up.
in 2008, their dad made a calculated risk of his own; leaving minnesota for california wine country. the winery that followed became the inspiration behind the name and the foundation for everything that came after.
they saw the long days, the uncertainty, the wins, the setbacks, and the moments where the only way forward was to trust the work and keep your head up.
every bottle
is a decision.
winemaking is its own calculated risk. every choice matters; where the fruit comes from, when it is picked, how long it ferments, and what is left to nature.
our wines are made to feel serious without feeling stiff. structured, layered, and intentional; but still easy to open, pour, and share.
growth with intention.
great wine starts before the cellar. site, climate, and timing shape the bottle long before the first pour. the best wines are grown, not made, which is why every vintage begins with the people farming the vineyards.
know when to move.
every vintage asks the same question: wait or act? pick now or give it another week. blend or leave it alone. delicious wine often comes down to making the right decision before you have all the answers.
trust what belongs.
the most interesting wines are not the most manipulated. they reflect where they were grown, the season they came from, and the people who made them. our job is to guide the process, not overpower it.
here's to what
comes next.
when the moment comes, open the bottle.
